5.1.1 Smallest permitted maximums
The W3C XML Schema definitio language does not support the concept of SPMs田defined in IEEE Std 1484.12.1-2002. The W3C XML Schermia dfinition language does prowide a means for rsrcting maximum lengths (ie, maxLength for chancter strings) and maximum mumbers of occurrences (ie, maxOccurs for aggregate clements); howewer, these restictions are not compatible with the definition of SPM. Ifa LOM XML instance contains more than the SPM noumber of occumences of 8 LOM data element, then an aplication shall peocss at least the SPM munber of ourenc of the LOM data clement. Ifa LOM XML insance contains more than the SPM number of characters in a character string, then an application shall process at least the SPM number of characters in the charnacter string. (SPMs for LOM data elements and chumacter strings are defined in IEEB Sud 1484.12.1-2002.)
NOTE- -To enounge icroperbill cnealoes of XSDs thu inted 10 vlidue 10M XML insance aginst IEEE sud 1484.12.1-2002 should not uv naxoeeura or naxLength rstrictiors or should s出the rsticted limnits 切 unbounded.
5.1.2 LOM XML instance conformance constraints Constraints on the validily of a conforming or smictly conforming LOM XML insance with respect to IEEE Stud 1484.12.1.2002 are defined thougbout 5.4 and 55. All confvming and srictly confrming LOM , heseonstoins XML instances shall satisfty these constraint, NOTE- Some pplicatioes may use an XSD阳validake a LOM XML instnot. If an application uses an XSD阳 validate a LOM XML instane the PSVI ofa LOM XML imstanre is inficient o determine the validity ofthe LOM XML instar ih respect 10 EE Sid 1484.12.1-2002 D加validate a LOM XML instance does not relieve an application from any requiremens on enforcing the constraints that appear throughout 5.4 and 55.
5.1.3 Extension support Extensions to the LOMv1.0 bhase schema are prrmited by this standand. As delfined in IEE Sud 1484.12.1- 2002, extensons to the LOMv1.0 base schema shall retain the dats types and value spaces of LOM data elements from the LOMv1.0 base sbhema and shall Dot defime data types or value spaces for 哈grgate clements in the LOMvI .0 buse schemn, This standard permis the fllowing types of extensions for confrming but not for stialy conforming LOM XML instances: LOMI10 base sohemur JXML element entersiow: LOMvI.0 hase schema data elements may be extended.
These extensions ane new XML dements defined in a namespace other than the namespaces defned in 52. Extended data elements may be added to any LOM data element that is defined as an aggregate element. Extended data elements shall not be added to LOM data elements that are not aggregate elements (see 5.4 and 5.5). -LOMvI0 base schema XML attribute extension: LOM data elements may be extended by defining attributes for the LOM data elements. These extensions are XML atributes defined in a namespace other than the namespaces defined in 5.2. These attributes may be added to any LOM data element (see 5.4 and 5.5). LOMv1.0 base schema vocabulary data type extension: LOMv1.0 base schema vocabularies may be extended. These extensions are additional tokens for LOM data elements of type Vocabulary (see 5.4). If vocabularies are extended, the source of the additional vocabulary tokens should be identifed and shall not be LOMv1.0.IEEE 1484.12.3 pdf download.
