Hydrostatic test — the hydraulic pressure to which pressure components, equipment, or systems aresubjected to in order to prove structural integrity.
Listed – equipment or materials included in a list published by an organization acceptable to the
authority having jurisdiction and concerned with product evaluation that maintains periodic inspectionof production of listed equipment or materials and whose listing states either that the equipment ormaterials meets appropriate standards or has been tested and found suitable for use in a specifiedmanner.
LNG“cold”- unsaturated LNG at the LNG tank service pressure of 2 to 3 bar (40 psi).
LNG”warm”- saturated LNG at the LNG tank service pressure of 8 to 10 bar (120 to 140 psi).LNG tank – a vessel for storing liquefied natural gas (LNG) on board a vehicle.
Manufacturer — the person or organization responsible for the design, fabrication, and testing ofequipment and components.
Pressure – expressed as psi,Pa, kPa, or bar.
Burst pressure – pressure that causes structural failure of the component and consequential fluidloss through the component envelope, not including gaskets or seals. The highest pressure during aburst test.
Fill pressure — the pressure attained at the actual time of filling.Fill pressure varies with changingparameters including flow rate and LNG temperature in the fuel tank.
Maximum operating pressure — the highest pressure at which the system, or the specified part of a system, normally operates.
Maximum working pressure — the maximum pressure to which a component or system is designed to be subjected when handling the specified fluid through the temperature range.
Operating pressure — the pressure at which the system, or the specified part of a system, normally operates.
Set pressure (cracking pressure) — the initial opening pressure of a pressure relief valve.
Test pressure — the pressure to which a component or equipment is taken during testing.
Pressure relief valve — a device that prevents a pre-determined upstream pressure from being exceeded. This includes thermal expansion relief valve.
Primary and secondary dispensing controls — an LNG dispenser strategy to terminate fuel dispensing when a pre-set value for flow or pressure is reached. See note to Clause 6.9.1.
Purge — to replace the existing fluid (gaseous or liquid) in piping, tubing, equipment, or a container,with a desired fluid.
Safety shut-off valve — see Valve.
Service temperature range — the temperature range the component or equipment will be subjected to in normal service.
Valve — a device by which the flow of a fluid may be started, stopped, or regulated, by a movable part that opens or obstructs passage.
Automatic — a self-actuated or remotely actuated device consisting essentially of a valve and operator.
Back check — a valve that allows gas or liquid to flow in only one direction.
