5 5.1 General
5.1.1 To assess th e compa tibility or connec t ab ili ty , a theo retical analysis shall be u nder t aken for each com ponen t an d its t ype oft ran sm i ss ion p at h. Based on the theo retical analysis of th e syste m , a set of tes ts shall be se l ecte d from th ose l isted below. If requ i rements defined in Clause 4 are included in the app licable part of EN 54 no further test i ng is required. An example of the methodology for the theoretical analysis is given in Annex C.
NOTE 1 A flow chart to illustrate the process to implement the compatibility assessment is given in Annex E. NO TE 2 The compatibility or connectability of eac h compo n ent for each system conf igurat i on(s) as specif ied by the appli ca nt sha ll be assessed.
5.1.2 For components t ype 1 not covered by EN 54 , if no evidence of comp li ance to electromagnetic compatibility (see 4.2.5 b)) is provided then the electromagnetic compatibility i mmun i ty tests shall be carr i ed o ut in accor dance wi th 4.2.5 b).
5.1.3 For co mp onen ts type 1 not cove red by EN 54 , if no evidence of com pliance to en vironmental test (see 4.2.5 c)) is provided th en tests shall be carried out in accordance with 4.2.5.c)
5.1.4 T he test programme shall be undertaken after th e theoretical analysis and will be dependent upon the resu lts of this analys i s. NOTE The test programme may be undertaken as part of a programme to assess the performance of a device in accordance with a part of EN 54.
5.1.5 The assessment of the docu me n ta ti on of comp onent type 1 not co vered by EN 54 shall carried o ut in acc or dance to Annex D.
5.1.6 The assessment shall be based on the assumption of th e initial condition of the system being in the quiescent state.
5.2 Provision of equipment and supporting information and tools
5.2.1 At least one system configu ratio n shall be provi ded for t est i ng compliance with this European Stan dard.
5.2.2 Each config ur ation of compo n ent shall be rep r ese ntative of the maximum cap acity of equ ipm ent declared in the manufacturer’s documentation. This may be achieved by the su b mission of eq u ipment h aving a full complement of interfaces to tr ansmission paths , zones and outputs.
5.2.3 Th e co mp onen ts fo r connection to t ra n smission p aths may be su bs tit uted by sim u lated devices ,p rovided that these h ave equivalent functional a nd electrical ch arac teristics. In any case at least one component of shall be prov ided.
